TALENT ACQUISITION MANAGER

Position is located in Grand Rapids, MI.
Candidates outside the Grand Rapids area, will be required to relocate.

This HR leadership role reports to the VP of Workforce Planning and Development, and is accountable for developing talent acquisition strategies and leading ongoing employment operations, including implementation of new systems and processes, management of outside vendors and responsibility for driving consistent processes throughout the organization and measuring results. The Talent Acquisition Manager will work in close partnership with the Manager of College Relations to develop and deliver a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to the organization. This is a role for a seasoned HR professional with specialist experience in the employment arena. The varied accountabilities of the job will keep you challenged, including the following 2008 priorities:

Drive technology solutions:

  • Prioritize technology needs in hiring and employment processes and identify gaps between current systems and industry best practice.
  • Collaborate with HRIS resources to optimize technology solutions that directly or indirectly link to employment
  • Ensure end users have adequate training to leverage available technology

    Evaluate vendor contracts/service delivery options:

  • Assess existing service delivery model and utilization/effectiveness of vendor services, considering internal and external influences.
  • Evaluate potential vendors through external research, benchmarking, and RFIs
  • Negotiate contracts, monitor results and provide feedback

    Liase with senior leadership to facilitate Executive-level hiring:

  • Provide recruiting guidance to senior leadership team regarding executive level sourcing and hiring
  • Manage relationships with executive search firms
  • Coordinate interview and assessment processes for executive hires
  • Drive the onboarding process for senior leadership

    Lead the employment team:

  • Provide clear direction and objectives to team members, integrating activities with broader business goals.
  • Improve team performance through ongoing coaching and performance feedback
  • Drive consistent employment practices through decentralized recruiters in the field and provide counsel and advice to these indirect team members

    The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years experience in HR with specialized assignments in full life cycle recruiting and employment.
  • Recruiting experience in a multi-site, corporate (inside) environment
  • Experience in one or more applicant tracking software (ATS) systems and other recruiting technology
  • Effective interviewing skills and familiarity with various employment selection processes
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organization skills and ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Well-developed collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Experience influencing others without direct authority
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally, including some overnight travel

    Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other HRIS software desirable
  • Recruiting experience at the executive level
  • Certification in one or more employment selection processes
  • Experience leading and developing a team
