The national office of the ACLU, a national public interest organization, devoted to the defense of the Bill of Rights, seeks a dynamic Recruiter.

OVERVIEW:  

This position will oversee the full-cycle of recruitment within the organization, in a cost effective manner. This position is responsible for meeting established recruiting performance targets and is also responsible for developing proactive sourcing strategies and creating and maintaining candidate pipelines as needed.  In addition, the Recruiter is accountable for legal compliance in recruiting activity and for ensuring ACLU policies and processes are followed. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels.  This position reports to the Director of Human Resources. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development and reviewing of policies, procedures and programs relating to the recruitment and selection process.  
  • Partner with hiring managers to develop specific sourcing and retention strategies.    
  • Develop and maintain recruitment strategies to attract the most qualified applicants; track and assess the results of such strategies.
  • Consistently focus recruiting efforts towards maintaining diversity goals that foster an environment of equal employment opportunity. 
  • Act as a liaison with advertising agencies, assisting in the preparation of advertisements in newspapers, websites and job boards. 
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employment agencies and search firms including negotiating related fees and the selection of temporary employees. 
  • Schedule and attend job/career fairs with appropriate staff as outreach to attract qualified and diverse applicants. 
  • Review resumes, conduct initial interviews and refer qualified applicants to hiring managers for interviewing.
  • Manage the preparation of all letters and correspondence responding to applicants and candidates throughout the recruitment process.
  • Prepare and analyze metrics on all facets of the hiring process; research, analyze, prepare and present other hiring statistics as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources in the development of the annual recruiting budget, sourcing strategies and staffing reports.
  • Maintain records on recruiting activities as required.
  • Perform other duties as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources required and a minimum of five years of solid recruiting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and skill in interviewing techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and compliance pertaining to advertising of positions and candidate selection.
  • Experience in developing sourcing strategies towards maintaining organizational diversity initiatives.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and respond quickly to changes.      
  • Ability to prioritize and multi task successfully while retaining composure and maintaining productivity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, HRIS and applicant tracking software systems.

COMPENSATION:

Salary is commensurate with experience, within the parameters of the ACLU compensation scale.
