To provide professional level support in the selection and hiring of highly qualified personnel and to provide support and counsel to HR site personnel in their hiring efforts.

Essential Functions:
In conjunction with hiring managers, recruit, interview, screen and evaluate candidates. Coordinate advertising (paper, internet, recruiters), schedule interviews, test applicants, verify employment and references, and prepare offer and rejection letters. Coordinate resources such as temporary employees and relocation services.
Develop and maintain recruitment postings, logs and regulatory reporting as assigned.
Develop and implement detailed recruitment strategies and plans for all openings. Assist HR site personnel in developing similar strategies and implementing related issues. Develop tools and aids to enhance the recruitment efforts by HR staff.
Assist departments and HR site personnel in developing affirmative action goals and consult with hiring managers regarding those goals during the selection process. Report to management on progress against those goals.
Participate in the recruitment planning process for Invitrogen globally. Develop calendars and recruitment materials. Represent Invitrogen at job fairs, open houses, college recruitment tours, etc.
Participate in the retention planning process for Invitrogen globally. Identify positions that are difficult to hire or retain and implement resolution strategies.
May perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.

Nature and Scope:
This position interacts with varying levels of personnel requiring the ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing Invitrogen’s HR and Recruiting policies and programs and the interpretation of them. Effectiveness in this role requires a functional knowledge of corporate operations and product line. The incumbent determines own practices and procedures and contributes to the development of new concepts. Decisions are made within policy constraints; solutions are expected to be creative and practical. Performs routine duties independently with minimal instruction given on new projects or assignments. Job encounters recurring work situations with frequent variations from the norm, involving a diverse scope and high degree of complexity. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; mistakes in work could cause substantial data errors and financial loss. The incumbent must possess self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor toward the job, the company and their work team.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or other related discipline, or the equivalent knowledge and experience is required. Professional certification or graduate coursework preferred.

Experience:
Requires a minimum 8 years relevant experience, including an emphasis in Recruiting and familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations. Demonstrated organizational and creative problem solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Experience developing and implementing retention programs strongly preferred. User level working knowledge of HR information systems preferred. Working knowledge of common HR concepts, practices and procedures is required.

Has contact with all levels of personnel in and outside of the company.

Working Conditions:
Works in an office environment. May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional travel may be required. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
