Employee Relations Manager - 039090

at Nike, Inc.

Portland, OR

posted 2 months ago

Description

The heart of Nike is built around one simple idea -- innovate. Whether that innovation is called Nike Air or ACG or Nike Swift or Nike Shox, the principle is the same: think something that nobody has thought before, or improve something that already exists. It's how we create our products, and it's the way we treat the people we work with.

So take chances. Think bigger than the next achiever. Just know one thing. The more you succeed, the higher we'll raise the bar.

But would you really want it any other way?

As our Employee Relations Manager, you'll create a competitive advantage for Nike by being the ER subject matter expert and partnering with employees and business units to ensure the consistency, fairness and legal compliance in the work environment. You'll demonstrate leadership and initiative by mentoring others and using sound analysis to make proactive recommendations that address the business needs. You'll also respond to complex ER situations and identify solutions that align with the ER business plan, Nike corporate initiatives and legal requirements. You'll also conduct training in accordance with the ER training curriculum, including Managing to Win, Harassment - Zero Tolerance, Coaching for Excellence and Corrective Action classes; communicate revisions to the Nike employment policies and procedures to the HR community, business leaders and employees; and support compliance initiatives, including postings, wage and hour issues, record retention and I-9s. This opportunity also involves preparing a comprehensive/effective response to administrative charges of discrimination and wage and hour/pay violations. In addition, you'll track and report data to measure the value and effectiveness of ER initiatives. Requirements for the position include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Psychology, Sociology, Industrial Relations or a related field
  • 6 years' varied/progressive HR or related business experience
  • 8 years' experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience leading project teams
  • Ability to work with, inspire and create consensus within a group to cooperatively achieve a common goal
  • Advanced knowledge of employment laws
  • Proven experience in HR, including performance/compensation management, employee relations, training and development, leadership and competency development, and benefits
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills needed for consensus building
  • Ability to be confidential with sensitive information
  • Ability to influence and drive positive change as an effective business partner
  • Interpersonal and organizational consulting, policy design, program design, delivery and facilitation skills
  • Ability to develop and facilitate interventions that reflect systemic thinking
  • Word and Excel skills
  • PowerPoint skills are a plus
  • Project management experience is preferred

Interested yet? Good. Us too. We're pretty sure you'll want to know we offer one of the most generous benefits packages around. Things like a stock purchase plan, a 401(k) retirement plan, casual work environment, childcare and a host of other perks we don't have room to mention here.

Nike is committed to employing a diverse workforce. EOE/M/F/H/V
